Book review of Slam by Nick Hornby
The book is about teenager problems, and in this case, sex without preventions becomes a big problem.
The main character is Sam.
Sam is a boy at age 16, he loves to skate. His parents are divorced and he lives with his very young mother, she is only 32.
Sam meets a girl called Alicia at a party his mother wants him to go to, they become friends and they decides that they wants to meet again. Eventually she becomes his girlfriend and they hang out together everyday.
But after a while Sam starts to loose feelings for Alicia, and eventually he breaks up with her.
Not very long after, Alicia contacts him and wants him to follow her to by a pregnancy test, because her period is late. Sam freaks out.
And then the problems just keep on growing.
I liked the book because this is something that can happen in reality. And I think it’s interesting to hear about how some people handle it, even though the story is problably made up, but it could be real. And it's about teenagers like us, so we may read about some situations that we could se our self in.
Great book!
